ELITE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM • Physical Fitness • Courage • Coordination • Listening Skills
Students are taught physical conditioning and discipline through Kung Fu and Gracie Jiu Jitsu techniques in a safe and fun environment. Students are instructed in techniques like blocking, stepping, kicking, striking, and grappling. As well, students are taught classical combinations and long sequences that date back to China from the late 19th and early 20th century. Kung fu is hard work that produces results, and Jiu Jitsu is a great confidence biulder. The classes at Camden Combatives will challenge and motivate your child to achieve more and become stronger mentally and physically. Martial arts training for children is more than a course in kicking and punching. It can be a catalyst to promote self-confidence, assertiveness, goal orientation, calmness, and concentration. It teaches the child responsibility for his/her newfound skills.
"We will train your child to become a unique individual. He or she will receive the benefits of a traditional Chinese Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training as well as the artistic aspects of martial arts."
PALHARES GRACIE JIU JITSU • Self Defense • Fitness
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground defense. Jiu-Jitsu was formed from early 20th century Kodokan Judo ground fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by Master Mitsuyo Maeda. Jiu-Jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their extended family. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique – most notably by applying joint-locks and choke holds to defeat the attacker. It is important for you to know that at Camden Combat we DO NOT "play silly games" with children, nor are we babysitters. We are professional teachers, we take our classes seriously and we fully understand that your child must gain the health and fitness benefits of Kung Ku and Jiu Jitsu. Children's classes include a well-rounded and balanced mind and body fitness program that includes self defense techniques, special breathing and meditation techniques to build inner strength and relaxation, bare hands forms, the Shaolin staff or long pole, the short stick, plus various strength and flexibility exercises. Kung fu philosophy and life skills are discussed and reinforced throughtout the year. Our aim in this is to develop self-discipline, courage, tolerance and respect for themselves and for others. In particular, our Kung Fu curriculum will develop your child's mental focusing ability, helping them to learn and concentrate better at school.
All classes consist of warm up and cool down exercises plus various items that are rotated from class to class to achieve results and to maintain interest and motivation.

Jeet Kune Do is an eclectic and hybrid martial art system and philosophy of life founded by the martial artist BRUCE LEE in 1967 with simple and direct, or straightforward, movements and non-classical style. Jeet Kune Do practitioners believe in minimal movements with maximum effects and extreme speed. The system works by using different "tools" for different situations, where the situations are divided into ranges, which is kicking, punching, trapping, and grappling, where martial artists use techniques to flow smoothly between them. It is referred to as "a style without style" or "the art of fighting without fighting" as said by Lee himself.
